I was happy to contribute to this episode of Urbinary<\/a> exploring mountain territories as places of production, leisure, and spectacle. Considering practices of mass tourism and mega events as major drivers of spatial transformation, the episode\u00a0critically explores their sustainability\u2014not only environmentally, but also spatially, socially, and economically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00abDrawing insights from the work of Martin M\u00fcller and Sarah\u00a0Gainsforth, the episode addresses the material and immaterial effects of such leisure practices in mountain territories through a threefold perspective:\u00a0firstly, in spatial and tangible terms; secondly, in terms of governance; and thirdly, in terms of the intangible human experience. By reflecting on the above, the episode seeks to highlight\u00a0the fact that\u00a0mountains are increasingly undergoing processes of urbanisation, especially in the context of tourism and mega events. Ultimately, it constitutes a call for defending, protecting, and preserving our mountain landscapes\u00bb.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Urbinary<\/strong>\u00a0is a dissemination platform \u2013 centred around the creation and structuring of a podcast \u2013 developed by a diverse team of\u00a0students, alumni, PhD Candidates and early career researchers<\/strong>\u00a0from the\u00a0Department of Architecture and Urban Studies<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0Design Department<\/a>\u00a0at the\u00a0Politecnico di Milano<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
